The goal is to create open source software that’s disruptive and can become viral which has a high probability of being monetized by building a profitable SaaS (Software As A Service) version of the software.
Our target type of founder is a Computer Science graduate from Wayne State University, Lawrence Tech University, Oakland University and University of Michigan Dearborn. We want Detroit founders so we require the founder to have lived in Detroit for the last 5 years.
We want founders that understand the business problem they are trying to solve versus just building software and hoping it will go viral. Therefore, we require all founders to be an alumni of the TechTown Start Studio program This means that each founder will have a Unique Value Proposition (UVP) for the software they are building.
It will house up to 2-3 companies for 3 months. The founders will not have to worry about most of their expenses so they can be heads down building their software.
The following will be provided:
- Rent, water and electricity
- Dinner once a week
- House Keeping once a week
- Laundry once a week
- Monthly stipend
- Landscaping maintenance
The first cohort will be in January 2024!
